King of the Wing round 1 is done

Wow .. what a good time we had last night at Bubba Ray’s for the opening round of the King of the Wing.  I’ve just posted over 3 dozen pictures from the event last night right here.  Those pictures are up on our facebook page, so if you’re on facebook you shouldn’t have any trouble getting to them.  Congratulations to the five that qualified for the final last night - especially Heidi and Cameron who tied for top spot at the end of the night.  Terry, sorry about your luck with the wheel - you really can eat anything and it’s impressive!  You’ll get your spot in the finals soon I’m sure.  Dylan … watch where you put your hands after you eat the hot wings.  That looked painful!

Thanks to BJ and the crew from Q104 who make this event as fun as it is.  Also a big thanks to Jason and Woody and the whole crew at Bubba Ray’s for allowing us to come in and set their patrons on fire (some more than others, right Dylan?)  I’m looking forward to round 2 coming up next Wednesday night, November 5th.

See you there!

Cheers,

Brian

Rockin’ New Products and some updates

We’ve got some new stuff in store that I wanted to let everyone know about.  First of all, from Blair’s extreme kitchen has been released a very exciting new lineup of projects.  Legendary rocker Zakk Wylde teamed up with Blair to produce a special lineup of 4 sauces.  They are:

Zakk Wylde’s Original

Zakk Wylde’s Sonic Brew

Zakk Wylde’s Stronger than Death, and

Zakk Wylde’s Shot to Hell

Check out these awesome additions to the lineup, especially for those of you who are Zakk Wylde fans.  Also, if you’re a fan of the insanely hot, Shot to Hell is a must have.

We’ve also added a few other new products.  A couple of new additions from Southwest Specialty include the brand new Ass Kickin’ Peanut Butter and the gift pack of their 4 mini sauces.  Also from the Robert Rothschild’s line we’ve added some interesting gourmet products.  There is a Ginger Wasabi Sauce and their Roasted Red Pepper & Onion Dip & Relish.

Finally, the update on King of the Wing is that we’ve pushed it all back by one week and slightly changed the date of the final.  The first event is set for Wednesday October 29th.  Registration is at 6:30pm with a 7pm event start.  The other two qualifiers are on the two following Wednesdays (November 5th and 12th).  The final is on TUESDAY November 18th at 7pm.  Drop me a line if you’ve got any questions.

Cheers,

Brian

The return of the Wheel o’ Pain is coming to Bubba Ray’s on Spring Garden Road starting on Wednesday, October 22nd. Sign up is at 5:30pm with a maximum of 20 participants being allowed. The fun will start at 6 pm with BJ from Q104’s morning show as the host of this plethora of pain! The top two qualifiers from each of the three qualifying events on the 22nd, 29th and November 5th will be entered into the winner-take-all last man standing on November 12th. The King of the Wing will walk with a brand new Budweiser BBQ and Beer Fridge as well as getting their name on the King of the Wing trophy to be proudly displayed in Bubba Ray’s for all to see.

There will be other prizes handed out for the qualifying events for those who qualify for the finals, and maybe even a booby prize or two for those who get culled early. ;-)

Check out our Facebook page with all of the event details and goad your friends into attending.

New Product Additions

Just a quick update on what we’ve just added to the store. First of all, we’ve now got the smaller 4.5 oz shakers of the popular Bad Byron’s Butt Rub. For those of you that haven’t found this great product yet, this gives you a good size to pick up and give it a shot before you go for the larger 24 oz size. Also, we’ve added a great new rub from Southwest Specialty called Kick Butt Rib Rub - Chile Lime. This awesomely tangy product isn’t too hot and has great flavor - very usable!

Another gourmet addition we just added is the Robert Rothschild’s Raspberry Honey Mustard Pretzel Dip. This is too good to just save it for your pretzels - also great with chicken and pork, sandwiches and in potato salad. We’ve only got it for a limited time, so if it sounds interesting to you make sure to grab one now.

Our last addition is a spicy one - the new Peanuts From Hell. These are the HOTTEST peanuts we’ve come across yet. They actually used pepper extract in the seasoning, so these are going to knock your socks off. Grab a jar and put them in that benign candy dish on the edge of your desk. You might want to set up a hidden camera to catch the surprised looks on your co-workers faces! (If you actually do this, we want to see the video clips - make sure to let us know. Please don’t do this to co-workers with heart/respiratory problems, it could be hazardous to their health and we will not be held responsible.)

Enjoy!

A few updates …

We’ve been really busy with the Wharf Rat Rally that was a resounding success for us as a vendor and we thank all of you that stopped by to see us in Digby - it was great talking to you! For now, we’ve got some of your favorites back in stock including the Blair’s Mini 4 Packs, Blair’s Pure Death sauce, Bad Byron’s Butt Rub and the Blair’s Habanero Chips.

Look for more news (and a new newsletter) in the coming days. We’re going to be bringing the Wheel of Pain into Bubba Ray’s in Halifax in mid September for a contest, so any of you local to the HRM will want to keep eyes peeled if you want to be the champ.

Brian
