From Mild to Wild June Newsletter

Hello everyone -

It’s been a while since I sent out a newsletter. My schedule got all thrown out of whack with the birth of our first child, a healthy baby boy, near the end of 2009. I’m working on getting back into coming out with regular newsletters again to keep everyone up to date with new products and promotions and all things related to spicy!

The first thing that I want to bring up is the new promotions that we’re going to be starting up on the Facebook page for From Mild to Wild Hot Sauce Shop.  From now until the end of June, simply throw a post into the June contest thread on the Discussions section of the Facebook page and your name will be entered into a random drawing.  This month we’re giving away a *1 Gallon Jug of Bone Suckin‘ Hot BBQ Sauce.*  That’ll keep you busy on the grill this summer!  Complete details of the giveaway are located in the discussion thread on the page.  Drop me a line if you’ve got any questions.

There are some more updates to page coming soon.  We’re bringing in some more new products in the near future, and I’ve got a couple that are just pending addition the web site in the next couple of days (including some cool T-shirts from Blair’s and the new Bone Suckin’ Hot Seasoning and Rub).

I just wanted to reconnect to let you all know that we’re still here!  Look for more in the near future.

Cheers,

Brian

New Review

Hey guys, im a new blogger for FMTW

gonna review some sauces i bought.  now, im not a strong man, i can’t sit still after eating a habanero or anything that manly. i’m you’re average joe that loves hot food, i like heat but i like flavor more and i want to let you in on my experiences.

so, here we go. first up for the hot sauces we have one off the extreme end.
Jolokia 10 – Delicious, hot and unqiue this is a useable super sauce. it contains 4 of the hottest peppers in the world but the sauce is deep, very savory and the flavors of all 4 of the chilies really combine to make something extremely unique. I would use this in everything, and i have. i’ve put it on eggs and toast, in cheese dip. on pizza and its fabulous, great deep flavor with perfectly good heat, very chunky sauce which i’m starting to like because its forgiving. if the heat is too much for you, just swallow. it will keep the heat down to a level i’d say between 7-9. if you really want to push the envolope then chew to your hearts content. let all the oils from the chunks of the 4 hottest peppers on earth come through and they will have no mercy. This is one hot sauce i’d be very careful to put into any heated food (like sauces) as the oils come out of the peppers.
The burn kicks up quickly due to the red savina habanero and the jolokia holds it for some time. Perfect for your chilihead friend. the burn can be managed from a good hab burn to….. a 12 gauge to the face.
Heats up to you really, which i love the most.
8.5/10 – Flavor
10/10 – Heat

End of summer updates and new product announcement

Hello everyone -

It’s been a busy summer for us because of a large home renovation project which has kept me away from writing things, but we have been busy with some special events and special products.  Just announced today is the new hot sauce for the band Hades, called Persephone’s Fire.  If you get into the Greek mythology of it, the symbolism is kind of neat.  Check out their press release here:

Hades hot sauce is here!

We’ve also added all kinds of new products over the last few months.  We cleaned up the new products category so that only the newer additions are still in there, so head on over and check it out.  For those of you what enjoyed the Blair’s Jolokia Peppers before, we’ve now got their limited release of the Smoked Jolokia Peppers.  I’m also going to be adding some other dried pepper products shortly, so keep an eye on the new products are if that’s something that you’re interested in.

Some other neat things to check out include:

Dave’s Ghost Pepper Hot Sauce: This fiery concoction is hotter than Dave’s insanity sauce and features the Jolokia Pepper as a main ingredient.

Hot Chocolate Hot Sauce with Chocolate Habanero Peppers: This isn’t a sweet snack to satisfy – this sauce features a rarer strain of Habanero Peppers, the Chocolate Habanero.  The bottle certainly makes me think “hot” chocolate …

Stone Ruination IPA Curry Mustard Grilling Sauce: We’ve gone with some great gourmet BBQ sauces for our lineup.  This one and the Stone Smoked Porter and Pasilla Pepper BBQ aren’t something that you want to let slip by if you’re into gourmet grilling.

I could go on with more and more, but I’ll leave it to you to check it out.  Please feel free to contact us with any questions, and if you happen to be in the Digby, Nova Scotia area for the Wharf Rat Rally motorcycle rally we’ll be set up as a vendor there from Wednesday September 2nd until Sunday September 6th down on the waterfront.  Check out all the details about the event at http://www.wharfratrally.ca.  Did I mention that we’re producing the official hot sauce of the Wharf Rat Rally this year?  Check that out here.

I hope that everyone’s summer is going well.  Enjoy the upcoming Labour Day long weekend!

Cheers,

Brian

Stanley Cup Game 7 Challenge – Round 1

Hey all -

I’m a huge hockey fan, and I’m really excited for tonight’s game 7 matchups.  I’m so excited that I’m going to make a special offer for all of you that happen to catch this in time.  Correctly predict who’s going to win their Game 7 matches AND correctly predict the final score for the game and I’ll send you a free bottle of a special private label habanero grilling sauce (a 12 oz bottle) absolutely free!  No shipping charges or anything – it costs you nothing.  Also, for those who don’t the scores right but correctly predict the winners of both games, I’ll send you a special 25% off coupon code by email.  In order to qualify for this offer, I need your score predictions in my email inbox (info@frommildtowildcom) prior to puck drop tonight.  I’ll be monitoring my email to see who gets their predictions in on time.  The free sauce offer is just for our Canadian customers due to shipping costs.  Any customer in our regularly serviced area is eligible for the coupon code.

Just to summarize:

  • Correctly predict the winner AND the final score of both games and I’ll send you a free bottle of our private label habanero grilling sauce.
  • Correctly predict the winner of BOTH games (without having to correctly predict the scores) and get a 25% off special coupon code emailed directly to you tomorrow (coupon code good until the end of May).

If you get both the scores and the winners, we’ll send you the coupon code as well as the free sauces (I figured that would be something that I would get asked anyway, so we’ll head that one off now).

So get crackin’ and send in your picks!  Just to make it fun, here are my picks:

New York Rangers: 2, Washington: 4

Carolina: 3, New Jersey: 4

What can I say, I like the hometown boys to win the big ones.  I guess we’ll see tomorrow how I did!  Good luck!

Cheers,

Brian

Monthly Newsletter

Well, it’s been a little bit since the last newsletter, so there’s lots to report.  We’ve been working on some renovations, so that’s kept our hands full for the last little while.  I’ve got a lot of new products to tell you about, so let’s get right down to it.

We’ve just picked up a new product line from Belize that’s a great rival for Marie Sharp’s with some interesting new products.  The Hot Mama’s product line is definitely worth checking out.  Aside from their great hot sauce that we brought in, their own Fiery Hot Habanero hot sauce, we’ve also got a Sweet Pepper Sauce and a Manganero Sauce.  The Sweet Pepper Sauce is a thinner version of their Habanero Pepper Jelly, and it makes a great glaze, and addition to a dip or just for sweetening up anything from grilled meats to your pancakes or waffles.  The Manganero Sauce is a blend of Habanero Peppers and Mangos that makes for a wonderful sweet with heat taste.  Again, I’ve been using this on anything from white meat to waffles.  With a great product likes this, the sky’s the limit.

Not to forget the Habanero Pepper Jelly, which we’ve been trying to find a good one of for a long time.  That mates great with the Habanero Peanut Butter which we’ve got back in stock now for all those who were looking for it when we sold out of it in record time last time it came in.  It’s back, for now.  A great all natural product, it’s only ingredients are ground peanuts and ground habaneros.  Whip up a PB&J sandwich that will never be the same again!

Also, we’ve got an organic chili pepper sauce called Kaitaia Fire.  This product of New Zealand blends organic peppers and all natural ingredients to make a fantastic fiery sauce that is certified organic.  This isn’t one to miss if you want to try something new and natural with a great fiery kick to it.

With the improvement in the weather in the last couple of weeks, we’ve been firing up the grill at home almost daily.  Just the other day we had a couple racks of ribs that were just amazing with the Bad Byron’s Butt Rub (4.5 oz shaker or  24 oz container)- one of the best dry rubs that we’ve ever had.  To celebrate our return to the grill (I know that some of you never stop – call me a wimp if you want to) we’re offering 20% off all of our dry spice/rub collection.  Just log into the online store, add some to your cart and enter the coupon code “spiceitup” to get 20% off everything that you order from that category.

We’ve got some other new products that have come in, and I’m going to try and keep posting new things in the blog at least weekly.  Don’t forget to check it out at www.frommildtowild.com/blog to keep up with what’s new!  Also – we’re looking to bring some new salsa products into the product line up.  If there are any that you’d recommend or would like us to bring in, now would be a great time to drop us a line!

Happy Grilling!

A quick early spring update

Hi Everyone -

I haven’t been the best about keeping this up to date, but I want to let you know some of what’s gotten done in the last little while.  We’ve just finished our inventory and gotten everything that is in stock now listed in the online store.  Check out our New Products section for a bunch of new items, including a certified organic hot sauce that just happens to come all the way from New Zealand!  (and it will really rock your tastebuds)  It’s called Kaitaia Fire.  Check it out.  We also picked up a number of products from the Hot Mama’s line from Belize.  Those of you who are into the Marie Sharp’s products should definitely check these out – they are fantastic and include a Manganero sauce – that’s mango and habanero, a Sweet Pepper sauce, Habanero Jelly and of course a great hot sauce.

I’m going to go into more detail when I get the newsletter for the spring done as well.  One other thing to look at is the update to the On Sale and Specials section of the store.  This has just been loaded with a bunch of products that we just cut the prices on (I know that it was getting a little bare in there).

Just something to whet your whistle – and oh yeah – the Habanero Peanut Butter is back in stock as well! (although, at it’s current rate, not for long).

Drop me a line if there’s anything else you’re lo0king for in the meantime!

Cheers,

Brian

January Newsletter

Happy New Year everyone!

I hope that you all had a great (and spicy) holiday season.  We got so busy keeping up with your Christmas orders that we didn’t get a December newsletter out.  So, to celebrate the new year and to help us have less to count for inventory we’re having a 25% off almost everything sale (excluding the Hot Sauce of the Month Club, so everything else but that) to help us clear out what we don’t want to have to count.  This includes already discounted items from our On Sale section.  To get the deal, just log into the online store and enter the coupon code “clearout” before checking out.  If you’re having any problems with it, feel free to contact us via email at info@frommildtowild.com.

The new Zakk Wylde collection of sauces has been a big hit with everyone so far.  If you haven’t checked those out yet, make sure to grab the before they run out.  They’re still available at our introductory pricing, but when we restock the pricing will be going up (we got a good deal on them to start and passed the savings along to everyone).  The four sauces in that line are:

Zakk Wylde’s Original
Zakk Wylde’s Sonic Brew
Zakk Wylde’s Stronger Than Death, and
Zakk Wylde’s Shot to Hell

These are great collectibles in fantastic packaging.  If you’re a hot sauce collector or a hard rock fan, it’s definitely something that you should have in your collection.  For those who love a VERY hot sauce, the Shot to Hell is quite extreme (they say it could be as hot or hotter than Blair’s 2 AM).

One other great deal that we’ve got is the Digby Biker Burnout hot sauce.  Originally this was produced as a private label for the Wharf Rat Rally motorcycle rally in Digby, NS.  We’ve got a few bottles leftover, so we’re clearning them out.  There were only 300 bottles produced, and each is serial numbered as a collectible.  Originally these were $10 a bottle, but with our clearance coupon code you can buy them for only $4 a bottle until February 15th.  Grab a bottle of our fantastic private lable sauce for a steal today (while quantities last).

We’re on the lookout for some hot sauce fans that would like to make occasional contributions to Our Hot Sauce Blog.  If you’d like to share your thoughts with our hot sauce community drop me a line and let me know and we can add you as an author for our blog.  If you’d like to share recipes, sauce reviews, hot pepper information or anything else that goes hand in hand with the spicy food lifestyle then we’d love to have you contribute.  We’ll also have some special deals and discounts from time to time for our contributors.  If you want to get in on this, give us an email at info@frommildtowild.com (or you can just reply to this newsletter as well).

For all those who’ve been asking, the Ass Kickin’ Peanut Butter will be back in stock soon.  If you want to be notified the day that it arrives, let me know and I’ll put you on that list.

Cheers,

Brian

King of the Wing Winner!

I would like to extend my congratulations to the winner of the inaugural King of the Wing at Bubba Ray’s on Spring Garden Road in Halifax.  Lily Reid took home the trophy, the Budweiser beer fridge and BBQ set and all the bragging rights to go along with it.  Hopefully she’ll be back to defend her title at the next go round.

The pictures are all up on the Facebook page now (which I believe is only accessible if you’ve got a facebook account – so if you don’t then maybe you’ve got another new reason to think about starting one!)

Thanks to all who came out and supported the event.  Thank you to BJ from Q104 for being our host for the event.  Thanks to Budweiser and Bubba Ray’s for helping to make this happen.  We’ll keep you posted about when we’re going to do it again and we’ll see you there!

Cheers,

Brian
